Practical guide

Choose WordPress hosting without guesswork

A low monthly price says little about how well a package fits your website. Start with the work the site does, then compare terms and capacity.

A solid foundation

Map out your website first

List the type of website, its plugins and external integrations. For an existing site, measure storage use and known slowdowns too. A simple information website has a different profile from a shop, membership area or site running heavy imports.

Do not compare only on a promised visitor count. Simultaneous actions, database work and the theme also influence capacity needs. If you have no measurements yet, choose based on expected usage and agree when to reassess.

Compare responsibilities and total costs

Ask who handles updates, fault investigation and recovery. Without further explanation, ‘managed’ does not tell you which tasks remain yours. Also check how you can access files and backups if you want to move later.

Set the recurring package price alongside any costs for a domain, email, plugins and maintenance. Read the term, renewal and cancellation conditions before deciding. Current Hostingot packages are in the catalogue; this guide does not maintain a separate price list.

Compare across these three areas

Ask every provider the same questions.
ConsiderationQuestion to answer
CapacityWhat memory, compute and storage limits apply, and how could I grow later?
ManagementWhich tasks does the host handle and which remain with me or my developer?
Recovery and leavingHow do I make and restore backups, and how do I take my data with me?

Make your choice in four steps

  1. Write down the use case, plugins and main visitor action.
  2. Compare capacity and responsibilities on the same basis.
  3. Calculate recurring costs, including necessary extra services.
  4. Check recovery, support and the route to moving later.

Common questions when choosing

Is more expensive automatically faster?

No. Extra capacity only helps if capacity is the bottleneck. A slow theme, large image or external integration can still cause delays on a more expensive package.

Should I buy the largest package straight away?

That is not a useful default. Choose based on current needs, realistic growth expectations and the options for adjusting later.

Where can I find current Hostingot prices?

In the packages overview. Available offers are shown there with their capacity; concept services have no package available to order.

Help with an informed choice

Share the type of website, your plugins and current storage use if available. That makes your hosting question much more specific.
